The economy, at street level. Ask. Compare. Simulate.
Economic Twin brings 13.9 million U.S. business locations, 342 million synthetic
residents, and county and block geography onto one globe. Explore a street corner,
ask the analyst a question, or compare business scenarios. Inspect the sources,
modeled estimates and assumptions behind the results.

What it does
Explore a place. Test a decision.
Use geography, business evidence and modeled customer demand together. Move from
a broad market question to a specific place and a saved scenario.
Fig. 02 · the globe
Real terrain, real imagery, no keys
Global terrain decoded in the browser, satellite imagery served from our own
store, public-domain and open-licence only, no third-party tile services at
runtime. Toggle population, businesses, 3D buildings, roads, parcels and labels;
drop to a rooftop and the points are clickable.

Fig. 03 · business evidence
Click it, and it explains itself
About 5.4 million U.S. locations carry website-derived business cards describing
their activities and customers, with supporting excerpts. Some cards inherit a
brand description; that is labeled separately from location evidence. Filed
records and modeled employment or revenue estimates remain distinguishable.

An analyst grounded in the model
Ask in plain language. The analyst queries business records, local statistics,
benchmarks and simulation tools. Results distinguish source data, modeled
estimates and assumptions so you can inspect the basis of an answer.
Describe a business, its staffing and operating hours. Compare scenarios with
modeled customer demand, local competition and cost assumptions. Inspect the
uncertainty, revenue ramp and saved customer playback. When a suitable peer
group or source is missing, the result should say so.
Economic Twin Business Data uses the same business catalogue for targeted
research and downloadable lists. Search by specialty, refine the matches,
and review export pricing on its dedicated page.
Follow synthetic residents and inspect saved modeled customer activity by day
or month. The simulation distinguishes individual accounts, estimated spending
and unresolved demand; it does not claim to observe anyone’s real purchases.
Synthetic residents represent modeled people. The full income, supplier and
financing loop is still being developed, with accounting gaps kept explicit.

Query the model, change scenario assumptions and compare saved runs. The
scripting surface keeps the inputs and results inspectable. See the separate
API page for developer access and integration details.

Sheet 05 · provenancethree tiers, never blurred
Provenance
The three tiers are never blurred.
The interface distinguishes filed observations, modeled estimates and simulation
results. Inspect the source and scope of a number, including missing coverage
or validation, before using it to make a decision.
Facts
Filed and published records, Census, BLS, BEA, PPP, OSHA, Form 5500, IRS 990,
state licences. 2.1 million businesses carry one. Shown as observed, never
adjusted to fit.
Estimates
Modeled values with a distribution and a provenance trail, scored against
held-out government filings the model never saw, 42% within 2× in the published employment benchmark on
339,174 unseen anchors, and we publish that number as it is.
Simulations
Branches of reality, each with a model version, a seed and an assumption ledger.
Every override carries a written reason. Re-runnable, comparable, explainable.
01
Facts first, estimates second, simulations third
Observed and modeled values coexist labeled in the same card, and the interface
always says which is which.
02
Inspect sources, vintage and confidence
Open "Why these numbers?" on a business card to inspect what was filed,
what was inferred, and how far the estimate could be off.
03
Backtested against filed reality
Estimates are graded on government filings held out of training, and physically
impossible answers are hunted as falsification gates, not smoothed away.
04
Free and public data first
The source register covers census statistics, business registers, filed records
and commercial datasets. Access, vintage and license terms remain source-specific.
Design principle, the synthetic population
The businesses are real. The people never are.
Business facts come from public commercial information, government filings, public
registers, and what companies publish about themselves. Every resident, household,
and personal detail in the simulation is fully synthetic:
statistically representative agents generated from aggregate census statistics,
based on no real individual. Synthetic resident records do not describe real individuals. Account information
and saved research are covered in our data practices.
